Egypt pens tripartite MoU to boost natural gas exports to EU

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt, Israel, and the European Union (EU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand trade, transport, and export of natural gas between the three parties.

The MoU comes in line with the journey of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) that started in 2019, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources cited oil Minister Tarek El-Molla on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, noted that the tripartite deal was sealed at a time when the EU is seeking to secure reliable sources of energy supplies amid the ongoing changes.

Furthermore, Von der Leyen highlighted the importance of securing clean energy resources as well as expanding the use of hydrogen as the energy of the future.

She also pointed out that the EU is currently working to develop a hydrogen strategy in Egypt to be launched during the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27).

Last week, the oil ministry penned a MoU with Jordan to boost cooperation between the two countries in the field of mineral resources, petrochemical industries, oil, and gas.
