Egypt pound remains unchanged at FX auction

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) kept the pound price unchanged against the U.S. dollar at EGP7.73 during the auction held today.  

The bank sold $39.1 million out of the $40  million offered in the auction.

CBE said last December it paid foreign investor’s dues at the value of $547.2 million.

In November, 2015, CBE surprisingly strengthened the pound by 20 piasters in the open market operations to stand at EGP7.73 per dollar.

Meanwhile, the pound was depreciated twice against the dollar in the periodical dollar auctions by 10 piasters each in 13 & 17 October, reaching EGP7.93.
