Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s electricity minister Mohamed Shaker announced on Thursday the new tariffs for electricity, which will be applied as of July 2017.
The new prices include seven segments with an increase of between 13 piasters and 135 piasters (18% to 42%) per kilowatt.
The first segment (0-50 kilowatt) will see a price increase of 18% or from 11 piasters to 13 piasters per kilowatt.
Prices of the second segment (51-100 kilowatt) will increase from 19 piasters to 22 piasters per kilowatt (+15.7%), while the tariff will be raised from 21 piasters to 27 piasters (28.5%) for the third segment (0-200 kilowatt).
The fourth segment (201-350 kilowatt) will see a price hike of 30%, fifth segment (351-650 kilowatt) up 37%, sixth segment (651-1,000 kilowatt) up 31.5%, and the seventh segment (more than 1,000 kilowatt) up 42%.
