Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) of Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum has received $12.2 million as a payment out of profits from the Sukari Mine in October 2017, chairman of Centamin Egypt Josef El-Raghy told Youm7.
Egypt has earned a total sum of $224 million until now from the Sukari Mine as a payment out of profits and royalty, El-Raghy added.
Total production of the mine amounted to 95.3 tonnes of impure gold since January 2010, he highlighted, noting that production average ranges between 1.2 tonnes and 1.5 tonnes per month.
El-Raghy indicated that the Sukari Mine aims at producing 600,000 ounces over the next year, up from 540,000 ounces this year.
Centamin posted a 26% quarter-on-quarter surge in gold output for the third quarter of 2017 to 156.530 ounces from 124,600 ounces.
Exports of the Sukari Mine represents 2% of the Egyptian exports.
