Egypt receives 854,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has received 854,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the COVAX agreement.

The shipment is part of a deal to receive 40 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine, the Minister of Health and Population, Hala Zayed, said in a statement late on Wednesday.

Egyptians can register on the ministry’s website (www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg) to take the vaccine in 139 medical centres located in 27 governorates across the country.

AstraZeneca’s vaccine is administered with a three-month gap between two doses.

Late on Wednesday, the ministry announced 699 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 202,131. It also reported 39 new deaths, bringing the toll to 11,995.
