Egypt repays foreign debts of $3bn in 2M – CBE Governor

Cairo – Mubasher: The governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Tarek Amer, said that Egypt’s due foreign liabilities totalled $11 billion during 2017.

Amer added, on the sidelines of the annual general meeting of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) held on 13 to 15 September, that some of these dues will be renewed for the coming years such as Egypt’s currency swap agreement with China, according to Enterprise Press.

He refused to reveal the volume of delayed dues for foreign oil firms, pointing out that the CBE repaid $3 billion of Egypt's foreign debts during the last two months.

The CBE will renew the $2.7 billion currency swap agreement with China that Egypt signed last year, he said, noting that this deal is being renewed annually.
