Egypt resumes procedures to sign deal with Euroclear – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Finance is wrapping up procedures to sign an agreement with Euroclear as the state officials are attending the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington.

This agreement will contribute to reducing the country’s public debt service by expanding the base of investors in the Egyptian debt instruments, the finance minister Mohamed Maait said in a statement on Tuesday.

The finance minister is also set to hold meeting with degeltaions from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Morgan Stanley to explore possible means to attract more foreign investments to the Egyptian market.

In April, the North African signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Euroclear to list public debt instruments in the bank at local currency.
