Egypt resumes talks over port management with Singapore

Cairo – Mubasher: Head of the Suez Canal Authority, Mohab Mamish, said Thursday that negotiations with the Port Authority of Singapore to operate the southern berth of East Port Said port are ongoing.

Mamish added that the Suez Canal Authority is waiting on the Port Authority of Singapore’s final plans for the operation of the berth, according to a statement.

On Wednesday, Mamish said that Egypt’s negotiations with Singapore to operate the southern berth of East Port Said port had been halted due to reservations over a request from the Singaporean side to manage the berths for ten years.

Earlier in November 2015, the Suez Canal Authority signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Port Authority of Singapore to manage and operate maritime ports.
