Egypt’s 2017/18 budget did not foresee interest hike - MoF

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian deputy Minister of Finance for treasury told Reuters on Saturday that he is expecting higher interest rates to be temporary to control the staggering inflation, which he forecasts to decline in 2018.

Mohamed Meait added that the recent two increases by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) in interest rates this year were not taken into account in the 2017/2018 public.

Meait added that he expects inflation to fall in early 2018, which will allow decreasing interest rates.
