Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's balance of payments (BoP) recorded an overall deficit of $102.5 million in fiscal year 2018/2019, compared to an overall surplus of $12.78 billion in the prior fiscal year, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
During the second half of FY18/19, the BoP achieved an overall surplus of $1.7 billion, offsetting the overall deficit posted during the first half of the year.
From July 2018 to last June, the deficit of the current account widened to $8.2 billion, compared to $6 billion a year earlier.
