Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's balance of payments (BoP) surplus surged 168.4% in the first quarter of fiscal year 2017/2018, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Sunday.
The BoP surplus totalled $5.1 billion by the end of September 2017, compared to around $1.9 billion for the same three-month period last year.
CBE has attributed the increasing surplus to a reduction in the current account deficit by around 65.7%, as well as net inflows of $6.2 billion during that period.
Egyptian net international reserves slightly rose by the end of November to $36.723 billion up from around $36.703 in October.
