Egypt's CBE excludes 18 banks from FX auction

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt has excluded eighteen banks temporarily from its regular dollar sale auctions, according to Governor Tarek Amer.

He added, in a press statement, that the central bank is studying some decisions to encourage minor producers for more borrowing, adopt an integrated strategy for small-sized enterprises and ensure effectiveness of local banks in this regard.

Amer also noted that remittances of nationals living abroad amounted to $19 billion annually and did not suffer any declines.

The Governor also unveiled a study to launch new savings deposits in USD and other foreign currencies for nationals, expatriates and foreign investors, to boost the country's foreign currency deposits.

Meanwhile, Amer denied that Egypt's government is facing difficulties in paying value of oil imports.
