Egypt’s CPI up 1.8% in October

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s CPI (inflation indicator) went up by 1.8% or 200.9 points in October compared with 1.3% in September, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The CAPMAS attributed the inflation increase in October to the increase in the prices of number of goods and services like oil, sugar, transportation, cereals and education.

Meanwhile, the CPI slowed down reaching 14% in October, on an annual basis, compared with 14.6% in September.

Earlier, the Central Bank of Egypt decided to float the Egyptian pound against the US dollar in addition to raising the interest rate by 300 points.
