Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is expected to keep the interest rates unchanged through its monetary policy committee upcoming meeting amid the accelerating pace of the inflation rate, number of economists told Mubasher.
Earlier, CBE decided to freely float the pound and raise key interest rates as part of a set of reforms aimed at alleviating a dollar shortage and stabilizing the country's flagging economy.
CBE also raised the overnight lending rate and the rate of the CBE's main operation have been raised to 14.75%, 15.75% and 15.25% respectively.
CBE monetary policy committee upcoming meeting will be on Thursday 29 December.
