Egypt’s Empower wins EGP 94m waste-to-energy plant

Cairo – Mubasher: Empower has won a contract to build a waste-to-energy plant with a total capacity of up to 1 megawatts and EGP 94 million in investment in New Nubariya city, Beheira governorate, CEO Hatem El Gamal told Almal News.

The generated energy will be sold to Behira Co for Electricity Distribution at EGP 1.43 per kilowatt per hour (kWh) for about 20 years.

Egypt’s leading biogas and waste management company is planning to commence the project, which will be financed by up to 80% through a loan from one of the local banks, next April and complete it before mid-2019

In January, Empower has won a tender to build two waste-to-energy plants with a total capacity of 2 megawatts and up to EGP 143 million in investment in El-Salheya El-Gedida city.
