Egypt's GASC sets tender to buy wheat

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has set a tender on Monday to buy an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for shipment from 1 to 10 April, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

GASC’s vice chairman Ahmed Youssef said that the shipments can be imported from the US, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Poland, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Paraguay.

The GASC will accept wheat with a moisture level of up to 13.5%, compared to a previous moisture level of 13%, Youssef told Reuters.

Egypt, the largest wheat importer in the world, consumes about 15 million tonnes of wheat yearly, according to official figures.
