Cairo – Mubasher: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has signed a contract worth EGP 80 million with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum to convert vehicles to operate on natural gas, Akhbar El-Yom reported on Wednesday.
Under the deal, Car Gas and the Egyptian International Gas Technology Company (Gastec) will work on converting about 10,000 cars to run on natural gas.
In addition, the MSMEDA has allocated EGP 100 million to finance an initiative aiming to shift towards natural gas for car fuelling, the executive director of MSMEDA Nevine Gamea said.
Previously, the state-run body injected EGP 172 million funding to covert 34,400 cars to operate on natural gas, she added.
