Cairo – Mubasher: Revenues generated by Suez Canal rose by 2% year-on-year (YoY) to $1.907 billion during the first four months of 2020 from $1.869 billion, Osama Rabea, head of Suez Canal Authority, revealed.
During April, a total of 1,731 ships crossed Suez Canal, up by 9.6% from 1,580 in the same month a year earlier, Rabea added in a statement on Monday.
Traffic in Suez Canal has not been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Rabea noted.
The total net tonnage reached 101.8 million tonnes in April, rising by 3.6% YoY from 98.3 million.
