Cairo - Mubasher: Revenues of the Suez Canal amounted to EGP 51.8 billion ($2.98 billion) during the first half of the fiscal year 2018/2019, according to official data.
A total of 9,368 ships transited in the Suez Canal during the July-December period of 2018, with a total cargo of 591 million tonnes, the Egyptian government said in a report.
In January, the Suez Canal's revenues rose to $461.5 million from $451.9 million in the same month of 2018.
In the same vein, the number of ships transiting Egyptian marine ports registered 5,623 with a total cargo of 48.4 million tonnes, generating EGP 3.8 billion in revenues, during the first half of the current fiscal year.
