Egypt’s agricultural exports rise to $1.3bn in 7M

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian agricultural exports rose by 2% year-on-year in the September-March period of fiscal year 2017/2018 to reach $1.345 billion from $1.312 billion.

Exports volume amounted to 2.581 million tonnes in the seven-month period of the current fiscal year, versus 2.293 million tonnes, rising 13% year-on-year, according to the Agriculture Export Council’s monthly bulletin issued Thursday.

The North African country’s exports of citrus fruits reached 1,117 tonnes at a value of $502 million, compared to 1,133 tonnes at $446 million in the seven-month period of FY16/17, the report added.

Exports of fresh potato totalled 483,000 tonnes at a value of $141 million, versus 372 tonnes at $129 million.

Moreover, exports of fresh tomato stood at 70,000 tonnes at a value of $36 million in the seven-month period of FY17/18, compared to 55,000 tonnes at $36 million.
