Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture is considering the establishment of 17 projects to raise around 150 million poultry birds, the agriculture minister said.
The ministry has signed deals to set up six poultry farming projects to raise up to 200 million birds, Ezz El-Din Abu Steit added during the opening of the 11th forum of the Egyptian Veterinary Poultry Association (EVPA).
The government has adopted a plan to encourage investment in poultry farming in remote areas, Abu Steit indicated.
He also noted that Egypt is taking unprecedented steps to develop all sectors which will support the state’s Agricultural Development Strategy 2030.
For her part, Mona Mehrez, the Egyptian deputy agriculture minister for Livestock, Fisheries, and Poultry, said that the EVPA has been successful in developing the poultry farming.
The poultry farming in Egypt amounts to 1.100 billion birds and 13 billion eggs, Mehrez highlighted.
The ministry is collaborating with relevant authorities to review procedures and reduce approval and licence fees to facilitate and bolster investment, she stressed.
