Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual core inflation rate slowed down to 1.5% in May from 2.5% a month earlier, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said in a statement on Wednesday.
The consumer price index (CPI) registered 0.3% last month, compared to 1.2% in May 2019 and 1% in April 2020, data showed.
Core inflation excludes volatile items such as those from the food and energy sectors.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the country’s annual headline inflation rose to 107.7 points in May, compared to 107.5 points in April.
