Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual core inflation rate decelerated to 1.9% in February, compared to 2.7% in January, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced.
The consumer price index (CPI) registered 0.2% in February, compared to 0.7% in January and 1% in February 2019, the CBE said in a statement on Tuesday.
Core inflation is the change in the costs of goods and services, excluding volatile items such as those from the food and energy sectors.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) posted that the country’s annual headline inflation registered 4.9% during February, compared to 6.8% a month earlier.
