Egypt's annual headline inflation rises to 4.8% in March – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual headline inflation rate accelerated by 0.6% month-on-month (MoM) to 110.9 points in March, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported on Thursday. 

The rise in inflation rate was ascribed to a growth in prices of fruits by 7.1%, meat and poultry by 3.7%, oils and fats by 0.9%, grains and bread by 0.5%, and dairy and white cheese by 0.5%.

On the other hand, the prices of ready-made garments fell by 1.1% and transportation services dropped by 0.4%.

Year-on-year, the most populous Arab nation’s annual inflation registered 4.8% in March, compared to 4.6% in the same month a year earlier.
