Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual inflation fell to 6.7% in August, hitting its lowest level since March 2013, compared to 13.6% in the same month of 2018.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.7%, registering 314.8 points in August, compared to 312.5 points in July, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The CAPMAS ascribed the monthly rise in inflation rate to the increase in prices of vegetables by 6.9%, dairy, cheese, and eggs by 1.9%, healthcare by 1.8%, and transportation by 0.4%.
On the other hand, prices of meat and poultry declined by 2.6%.
It is noteworthy that in July, the Egyptian minister of petroleum announced raising the per litre prices of 95-Octane, 92-Octane, and 80-Octane fuel to EGP 9, EGP 8, and EGP 6.75.
