Cairo – Mubasher: Total financial position of Egyptian banks reached EGP 3. 4261trillion in fiscal year 2016/2017, up 49.1% year-on-year.
Egypt’s bank deposits and current accounts increased by 43.1% or EGP 7.911 billion, according to a recent report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.
Bank deposits and current accounts represent 71.1% of total liabilities of banks’ financial position, the state-run statistics agency added.
The value of deposits and current accounts at banks increased by 43.1% year-on-year in FY16/17 to EGP 8. 3027billion, the CAPMAS highlighted.
Private banks dominated around 53.2% of deposits at a value of EGP 6. 1609trillion, up 36.6% year-on-year, the CAPMAS said.
