Cairo – Mubasher: Total loans provided by banks operating in Egypt, excluding the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), rose slightly in September by EGP 24 billion to EGP 1.64 trillion from EGP 1.62 trillion at the end of September.
The government borrowed around EGP 457.89 billion last September, versus EGP 449.46 billion a month earlier, according to a report by the CBE.
Total lending for the government recorded EGP 213.94 billion in local currency and EGP 243.94 billion in foreign currency, data showed.
Additionally, bank lending to non-government institutions increased to EGP 1.18 trillion in September, compared to EGP 1.17 trillion in August.
