Egypt’s bank loans rise EGP 39.7bn in December

Cairo – Mubasher: Loans provided by banks operating in Egypt rose by 1.2% month-on-month or EGP 39.7 billion at the end of December 2017, according to the Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) monthly bulletin.

Loans stood at EGP 3.279 trillion in December, up from EGP 3.239 trillion a month earlier, the CBE highlighted.

Local assets grew to EGP 2.98 trillion in December 2017, versus EGP 2.95 trillion the previous month. 

The CBE had previously posted that its foreign currency deposits rose by 20% year-on-year in December 2017.
