Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices advanced collectively on Thursday for the eighth straight day, as the benchmark index EGX30 added 0.64% or 43.57 points to close at 6,800 points, a three-week high.
The stocks of Orascom Telecom Media and Orascom Construction jumped by 9.52% and 5.26% respectively.
The stocks of Commercial International Bank, Global Telecom, EFG-Hermes, Qalaa Holding and Palm Hills went up 0.48% and 3.2% respectively.
The market capitalisation gained nearly EGP 2.53 billion ($323.1 million), on local investors buying, reaching EGP 426.01 billion.
The small and mid - cap index EGX70 leaped 1.11% to 371.63 points, while the broader index EGX100 surged 1.44% to 769.6 points.
Similarly, the equal-weighted index EGX50 advanced 1.46% to 1,174.6 points.
The market's total turnover recorded EGP 643.9 million, with 122 million shares changed hands through 23,800 transactions.
Foreign and Arab investors came as net sellers with EGP 30 million and EGP 21.8 million respectively, while local investors came as net buyers with EGP 51.8 million.
Retail investors came as net buyers, especially local investors; while institutions were net sellers.
Out of 160 stocks traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 95 and 37 respectively, while 28 stocks remained unchanged.
