Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices fell 2.17% or 147.37 points closing at the level of 6,634.98 points on Monday.
The benchmark hit its lowest level in 19 sessions or since 13 September 2015.
The stocks of Commercial International Bank, Orascom Telecom Media, Orascom Construction, Talaat Moustafa, Global Telecom, Qalaa, EFG-Hermes, Palm Hills, Porto Group and Amer Group went down within the range of 1.5% to 6%
The equal-weighted index EGX50 lost 1.57% to 1,158.91 points.
Similarly, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 declined 1.73% to 374.45 points, while the broader index EGX100 went down 1.58% to 764.46 points.
Monday's total turnover reached EGP 580 million with 290.7 million shares changed hand, through 24,400 transactions.
The market capitalisation shed EGP 5.8 billion ($741.5 million) reaching EGP 416.85 billion.
Foreign and Arab investors stepped in as net sellers with EGP 55.5 million and EGP 23 million respectively while local investors came out as net buyers with EGP 78.5 million.
Institutions came as net sellers, while retail traders were net buyers.
Out of the 168 companies traded today, decliners outnumbered advancers by 104 to 22, while 42 others remained unchanged.
