Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices closed on mixed note on Thursday, as the benchmark index EGX30 added 1.7% or 197.2 points to end at 11,353 points.
The small and medium caps index EGX70 added 0.42% to close at 447.77 points, while the broader index EGX100 eased 0.09% to close at 1,061.88 points.
The equal weighted index EGX50 slide 1.47% to close at 1,789.28 points.
Local investors were net sellers with EGP 66.4 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 66.25 million and EGP 179,000 respectively.
The market witnessed 479.97 million shares changed hands worth EGP 1.58 million.
Out of 188 stocks traded today, decliners outnumbered advancers by 126 to 47, while 15 stocks remained unchanged.
The market capitalization shed EGP 6.68 billion reaching EGP 559.78 billion.
EGX30 heavyweight constituents including CIB, and Global Telecom pulled the index down as they fell by 2.5%, and 2.1% respectively. It’s worth noting that only two stocks ended in a positive territory; Ezz steel, up 1.5%, and Heliopolis Housing, up 1.0%.
On the downside, today’s worst performing stocks included Arabia Investments, down 6.0%, Amer Group, down 5.9%, and Orascom Telecom Media and Technology, down 5.6%.
