Egypt’s bourse closes in green zone; equities gain EGP 1.8bln

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange indices advanced collectively on Monday, as the benchmark index EGX30 added 0.80% or 46.31 points to close at 5,800.05 points.

The market capitalization gained EGP 1.8 billion ($230 million) to close at EGP 386.5 million, up from EGP 384.7 million at the end of the previous session.

The small and mid-caps index EGX70 inched up 0.95% to 353.20 points, while the broader index EGX100 gained 0.76% to 703.44 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 went up 1.46% to 1,078.23 points.

Monday’s total turnover reached EGP 1.48 billion with 146.4 million shares changed hands , carried out through 20,400 transactions.

Foreign and Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 3 million and EGP 3.3 million respectively, while local investors ended as net sellers with EGP 6.3 million.

Both retail investors and institutions stepped in as net buyers, except foreign institutions ended as net sellers.

Out of 161 stocks traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 105 to 21, while 35 stocks remained unchanged.
