Egypt’s bourse closes on mixed note; equities shed EGP 3.7bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices closed on mixed note on Tuesday, while the market capitalization gained EGP 3.7 billion.

The benchmark index EGX30 slide 0.2% or 23.27 points to close at 1,519.8 points to snap four – session winning streak.

The small and medium caps index EGX70 added 1.3% to close at 438.4 points, while the broader index EGX100 went up 1.06% to end at 1,044.99 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 inched up 0.19% to 1,808 points.

The market witnessed 664 million shares changed hands worth EGP 2.05 billion.

The market capitalization gained EGP 3.7 billion reaching EGP 561.6 billion.

Out of 189 stocks traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 78 to 90, while 21 stocks remained unchanged.

Today’s top gainers included Heliopolis Housing, up 8.5%, Orascom Construction, up 6.4%, and Egypt Kuwait Holding, up 3.5%. On the downside, today’s worst performing stocks were: Arab Cotton Ginning, down 5.0%, Qalaa Holdings, down 4.9%, and GB Auto, down 4.3%.
