Egypt’s bourse closes on negative note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed on negative note on Tuesday amid selling pressures by local investors and the decline of the equities value by nearly EGP 1.3 billion.

The benchmark index EGX 30 slide 0.48% or 54.6 points to close at 11,389.4 points.

The small and medium caps index EGX70 slipped 0.3% to close at 450.17 points, while the broader index EGX100 eased 0.13% to close at 1,063.7 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 lost 0.37% to close at 1,835.3 points.

The market capitalization shed EGP 1.3 billion reaching EGP 568.45 billion.

The market witnessed 341.6 million shares changed hands worth EGP 1.3 billion.

Out of 181 stocks traded today, decliners outnumbered advancers by 95 to 59, while 27 stocks remained unchanged.

Local investors ended as net sellers EGP 140.9 million, while Arab and foreign investors ended as net buyers with EGP 44 million and EGP 96.8 million respectively.
