Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange closed on positive note on Thursday triggered by buying activity of foreign investors.
The benchmark index EGX30 added 1.76% or 221.81 points to close at 12,806.07 points.
The small and medium caps index EGX70 gained 2.33% to close at 493.7 points, while the broader index EGX100 added 1.75% to close at 1,202.88 points.
The equal weighted index EGX50 rose 2.03% to close at 1,933.57 points.
The market capitalization gained EGP 9.77 billion reaching EGP 622.44 billion.
Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 22.77 million, while local and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 14.9 million and EGP 7.7 million.
The market witnessed 210.2 million shares changed hands worth EGP 1.14 billion, carried out through 25,700 transactions.
Out of 175 stocks traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 118 to 24, while 33 stocks remained unchanged.
The EGX30’s top performing constituents were ACC, up 8.0%, Oriental Weavers, up 7.6%, and Eastern Co, up 7.6%. Today’s worst performing stocks included Egyptian Iron and Steel, down 1.5%, Orascom Construction, down 1.3%, and Madinet Nasr Housing, down 1.2%.
