Egypt’s bourse down 0.64%; equities shed $117.8m

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange closed on a negative note on Wednesday, as the benchmark index EGX30 went down 0.64% or 38.97 points to 6,076.57 points on selling pressures by local and foreign institutions.

The small and mid-caps index EGX70 fell 0.31% to 353.18 points, while the broader index EGX100 eased 0.36% to 723.61 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 remained stable at the level of 1,158.5 points.

The market capitalisation shed EGP 922.8 million ($117.8 million) reaching EGP 391.71 billion.

The market total turnover amounted to EGP 429 million, upon trading 147 million shares.

Out of 167 stocks traded today, decliners outnumbered advancers by 80 to 52, while 35 stocks remained unchanged.

Local and foreign investors came as net sellers with EGP 214.4 million and EGP 1.79 million respectively, while Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 216.19 million.

Institutions came as net sellers, while retail investors came as net buyers.
