Egypt’s bourse edges up in early trade

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices advanced collectively in Monday’s early trade, as the benchmark index EGX30 added 1.8% or 106 points reaching the level of 5,866 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 added 0.81% to 334 points, while the equal-weighted index EGX50 gained 1.48% to 1,027 points.

The stocks of Commercial International Bank surged 3.1% to EGP 31.96 with trading value of EGP 5.4 million.

Meanwhile, the stocks of Talaat Moustafa, Palm Hills and Orascom Telecom Media went up 1.1%, 5% and 3.8% respectively.

Around 23 stocks advanced in Monday’s early trade, while 11 stocks remained unchanged.

Local and Arab investors stepped in as net buyers with EGP 2.2 million and 918,000 respectively while foreign investors came out as net sellers with EGP 3.1 million.

On Sunday, the benchmark dropped 1.66% or 97.5 points to close at 5,760 points, its lowest level since 9 October 2013.
