Egypt's bourse extends bull run; benchmark hits 15 weeks high

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices moved higher on Thursday, while the benchmark index EGX30 gained 129.56 points or 1.95% to close at 6,779.28 points, its highest level since 12 November.

The heavy weight Commercial International Bank went up 0.13% to EGP 45.6, to record the second level in terms of traded values with 1.58 million changed hands worth EGP 73 million.

Meanwhile, EFG-Hermes came in the first place in terms of traded values through trading 14.2 million shares worth EGP 116.2 million.

The stock of Global Telecom advanced 3.23% to EGP 1.92.

The market capitalisation gained EGP 4.45 billion ($568.6 million) triggered by local buying, to reach EGP 428.57 billion up from EGP 424.12 billion in the preceding session.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 went up 0.70% to 362.91 points; while the broader index EGX100 gained 1.84% to 770.79 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted index EGX50 surged 1.51% to 1,140.48 points.    

The market total turnover recorded EGP 983.5 million, with trading volume of 322.4 million shares through 24.8 million transactions.

Foreign and Arab investors came as net sellers with EGP 37.8 million and EGP 15.5 million respectively, while local investors came as net buyers with EGP 53.3 million.

Institutions came as net sellers, while retail traders were net buyers.

Out of the 187 companies traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 154 to 11, while 22 others remained unchanged.
