Egypt's bourse opens on negative note

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices declined collectively in Wednesday’s early trade, as the benchmark index EGX30 went down 1.2% to 6,330 points.

"EGX was hammered by the negative news about the results of the investigations related to the recent crash of the Russian aircraft in Sinai," said Ahmed Abdel Hamid, managing director of Watheeqa Securities.

The benchmark lost more than 1% in today's early trade on strong selling pressures from local investors, especially over the leading stocks.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70  slid 0.03% to 345 points, while the broader index EGX100 went down 0.16% to 753 points.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 lost 0.47% to 1,090 points.

The market’s total turnover reached EGP 18 million, on trading 11 million shares, through 622,000 transactions

Arab and foreign investors came as net buyers with EGP 2.6 million and EGP 2.1 million respectively, while local investors came as net sellers with EGP 4.7 million.
