Egypt's bourse opens on positive note

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices advanced collectively in Thursday's early trade, as the benchmark EGX30 added 0.71% or 48 points reaching the level of 6,817 points, surpassing the level of 6,800 points on local investors’ buying.

The stocks of Orascom Telecom Media and Porto Group surged 9.5% and 2.5%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the stocks of Global Telecom, EFG-Hermes, Amer Group, Talaat Moustafa and Pioneers went up within the range of 1% to 3.5%.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank inched up 0.22%.

The small and mid-cap index, EGX70, inched up 0.85% to 370.66 points, while the broader index EGX100 added 0.74% to 764.3 points.

Similarly, equal-weighted index EGX50 advanced 1.44% to 1,174 points.
 
The market recorded a total turnover of EGP 158 million, with 122 million shares traded through 4,900 transactions.

Foreign and Arab investors came as net sellers with EGP 6.8 million and EGP 4.8 million, respectively, while local investors were net buyers with EGP 11.6 million.
