Egypt’s bourse snaps 4-day gaining streak

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices retreated collectively on Monday following a gaining streak that continued for four sessions in a row, pressured by institutional selling pressures.

The benchmark index EGX30 went down 0.86% or 72.8 points to close at 8,364 points. The equal weighted index EGX50 slid 1.84% to 1,328.37 points.

The small and medium caps index EGX70 lost 1.51% or 5.3 points to close at 347.1 points. Similarly, the broader index EGX100 inched down 0.94% or 7.57 points to close at 798.4 points.

CIB, the largest constitute of EGX30, dropped 1.4% to EGP 52.2 with trading value of EGP 74.09 million.

Market capitalisation declined EGP 3.4 billion to reach EGP 416 billion compared with EGP 419.4 billion in the previous session.

Local and foreign investors ended as net sellers with EGP 11.8 million and EGP 11.3 million respectively, while Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 23.1 million.

Institutional investors ended as net sellers with EGP 56.8 million, while retail investors were net buyers.
