Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) removed caps on deposits and withdrawals of foreign currency for companies importing basic goods. CBE said.
However, cash ceiling stayed unchanged for other companies that import non-essential commodities, Egypt’s bank said.
On 26 January 2016, the monthly deposit limit of U.S dollar was raised to $250,000 from $50,000 for some importers.
On 8 March 2016, CBE decided to lift limits on foreign currency deposits and withdrawal for ordinary individuals, imposing, however, the same restrictions on other legal persons.
