Cairo-Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said Thursday it would auction EGP 9.5 billion in treasury bills, said the Ministry of Finance.

The EGP8.5 billion will be offered through two auctions: a 182-day auction at a value of EGP4.5 billion and a 364-day auction at a value of EGP5 billion.

The country's budget deficit widened to EGP177 billion, or 5.9% of GDP within the first half of 2015/16, against EGP132 billion or 6.7% of GDP for the year-ago period.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance said the total treasury bills and bonds to be issued by Egypt’s central bank during the fourth quarter of 2015/2016 amount to EGP291 billion, up 17% year-over-year from EGP249 billion.
