Egypt’s chemical exports to rise to $5.5bn in 2018

Cairo – Mubasher: Exports of the Egyptian chemical industries sector are likely to rise by 21% year-on-year to reach $5.5 billion this year, chairman of the Export Council for Chemicals and Fertilizers Khalid Abu Al-Makarem.

The sector’s exports valued at $2.14 billion during the first five months of 2018, Abu Al-Makarem highlighted.

The chairman indicated that the council is getting ready for a meeting with the trade minister Tarek Kabil at the end of this week to discuss the development of the chemical and fertilisers sector’s exports, he indicated.

Exports of chemicals and fertilisers are expected to grow 20% in the coming three years, he pointed out.

Total exports of the sector amounted to nearly $4.461 billion, rising 33% from $3.363 billion in 2016, he noted.
