Egypt's core inflation drops to 3.6% in January – CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s core inflation rate retreated to 3.6% in January 2021, compared to 3.8% a month earlier, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

The monthly core consumer price index (CPI) recorded 0.5 last month, compared to 0.7% in January 2020 and to zero in December 2020, the CBE said in a statement on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the country’s annual headline inflation rate registered 4.8% in January, compared to 6.8% in the same month a year earlier.
