Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s core consumer price index moved up in August 2016 0.61% month-on-month, compared with 0.25% recorded in July 2016, according to a statement by the Central Bank of Egypt on Thursday.
On annual basis, the country’s core inflation rose to 13.25% this August from 12.31% a month earlier.
Earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that the consumer price index (CPI), which covers urban consumer only, annually increased to 16.4% in August from 14.4% in July.
The country’s budget deficit is likely to reach 8-8.5% by 2019/20, while the inflation rate is expected to decline 7-8% by 2018/19.
