Cairo – Mubasher: Amr El-Mounir, the deputy minister of finance for tax policies, has submitted his resignation to prime minister Sherif Ismail on Monday.
El-Mounir did not reveal the reason behind his resignation, but said that he was available to advise on matters and provide assistance and consultation at any time the government deems necessary.
The resignation is effective Monday, 5 March.
Since his appointment in March 2016, El-Mounir has overseen a number of important milestones including developing a modern tax policy, the most notable of which is the imposing of the value-added tax (VAT) and the tax disputes law.
