Egypt’s domestic liquidity hits EGP 3.7trn in March - CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s domestic liquidity rose to EGP 3.723 trillion in March, versus EGP 3.67 trillion in February, data by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed.

Year-on-year, domestic liquidity increased by 11.3% from EGP 3.3 trillion in March 2018, according to the CBE.

In the same vein, money supply grew to EGP 862.5 billion last March, versus EGP 840.5 billion in February, the CBE added.

The central bank aims at cutting domestic liquidity to control inflation through raising interest rates.

The CBE previously posted that Egypt's foreign reserves rose to $44.112 billion at the end of March.
