Egypt’s electricity ministry allocates EGP 24bn to upgrade power grids

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s electricity ministry has allocated EGP 24 billion to develop power transmission and distribution networks, electricity minister Mohamed Shaker told MENA on Tuesday.

The ministry is currently working on establishing a 2,000-kilometre electricity transmission network, Shaker added.

The minister has also pointed out that the electricity ministry is reconsidering Egypt’s energy strategy in a bid to boost usage of renewable energy to 42% instead of 35% by 2035.
