Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s electricity ministry is currently working on the construction of a 2,000-kilometre electricity transmission grid at a cost of EGP 18 billion, electricity minister Mohamed Shaker said.
The ministry is also upgrading electricity distribution networks at a cost of EGP 24 billion, Shaker added.
He further noted that the ministry is also working on finalising the technical and financial studies regarding the 2,400-megawatt pumped-storage hydroelectric power station in Ataqah, Suez governorate.
In December 2017, the minister announced that lifting subsidies of electricity prices have been extended for eight years until 2022.
